Welcome to the Mumpsimus* Forum,
community blogs and community galleries
This is the discussion area for
anything relating to Henry Hudson, tequila, Triumph motorcycles,
Ixtapa-Zihuatanejo, Shakespeare, mezcal, local Collingwood politics, hot sauces, Mexico, or other areas of interest from my web site. It
is not limited to those topics, but the layout has been designed to suit those
subject areas.
By entering here you agree not to post anything racist,
sexist, pornographic or copyright to another person or entity. Differences of
opinion, and free debate are otherwise encouraged. Democracy thrives on
differences of opinion but also on civility. Please try to be civil and
respectful when challenging one another; avoid personal attacks and name
calling. Use the board conscientiously, and eschew swearing.

In order to avoid spam, bots and other electronic diseases,
there are some functions which are restricted to members such as posting,
keeping a blog, commenting on a user's blog, adding pictures to a gallery or
voting in polls. Member identity or information is treated as confidential and

to register to read most of what's here. There are private areas available to

If you register and do not receive a verification email
within 24 hours, please check your junk mail folder or your server's

If you still can't find it, contact the administrator directly.
Membership is free, and requires no other commitment
other than mutual respect. There is a large community of dedicated,
knowledgeable and often entertaining people here who deserve it. If you
feel someone is being excessively disrespectful, abusive or violating
the basic rules of civility in any post, please contact the
administrator. Differences of opinion may not constitute abuse or
disrespect.
Spam or solicitation will not be tolerated and will
result in an immediate lifetime ban. Posting anything that suggests an
Internet scam will be forwarded to the appropriate law enforcement
authorities, along with any information about the poster.
Our moderators are here to help you. Don't be afraid to
ask them or send them a private message (PM) about anything on the
forum. These people volunteer their time and energy to make this forum
work, so be nice to them. You can also send messages to the
administrator. Please check the forum FAQs first, to see if we've
already answered your question there.
Take note: several sections of this forum are
about the enjoyment of alcohol, its types and styles, production, sales
and marketing, and the pleasure of responsible drinking. If you are not
of legal drinking age, or are offended by discussions of alcohol, you
are advised to look elsewhere.
*Mumpsimus
(noun, Middle English): Incorrigible, dogmatic old pedant. Also called a
foolosopher. Derived through incorrect copying of the Latin word
sumpsimus. An apt term for your resident sysop and administrator. Found in the delightful book, Forgotten English, by
Jeffrey Kacirk, Quill Books, New York, 1999.
Vox clamantis in deserto**:
Grammatical errata, incorrect spelling, excessive use of Internet acronyms or
abbreviations are egregious violations of the basic laws of good communication
and proper English. Try to use proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation if
nothing more than to set a good example and stay in practice. Language is a
powerful tool: use it carefully and wisely.
A person is often judged by how well
he or she communicates.
If you have comments, suggestions, ideas or requests, let me know
what I need to do to make this a better service. I am also open to requests for
alternate categories for topics.

Ian Chadwick, your administrator, author, blogger, politician,
foolosopher, and resident mumpsimus...
** Latin: A voice crying in the wilderness. Often misspelled as "clamatis."
