Adult chess club starts at Library, Oct. 26

A new chess club for players 18 or older will start at the Collingwood Public Library, October 26, from 6 p.m. It will every meet Tuesday evening at 6 p.m. from that date. There is no charge to join or to play. All levels of players are welcome.

Wordstock, a literary festival

I gave a brief reading at the 'celebrity" tent on Hurontario Street for the first Wordstock literary festival, today. Small audience, but I was told there were larger crowds earlier in the day. The lineup included a lot of incumbent politicians, so perhaps it was a political event for some, but for me it was more social.

GBAR desperately needs volunteers

Susan and I spent a couple of hours this morning helping out at the the Georgian Bay Animal Rescue shelter on Tenth Line. We helped out in one of the quarantined cat rooms, cleaning cages, feeding, and giving affection to the cats in there. It took two hours just to get all the cats taken care of.
