Local businesses give failing grades to council

I got a copy of a recent report from the Canadian Federation of Independent Business (CFIB) today that reviewed how some of its Ontario members saw their local governments. The good news is that Collingwood was not perceived as the worst. The bad news is that in every category surveyed, we failed to live up to expectations.

Chamber changes all-candidates' meeting

A significant change was made today to the Chamber's all-candidates' meeting, Sept. 22: council candidates have been bumped to 3:30 p.m., instead of the evening.

Council held another in camera meeting, last night, that I felt was inappropriately staged behind closed doors. After 10-15 minutes of presentation - all of which I strongly believe should have been made in public - I made my protest and walked out. To my disappointment, the rest of council remained.
