New baritone uke on its way

I just made a deal to buy a used baritone uke from a fellow member of the Ukulele Underground forums, in Nova Scotia.

It's a handmade baritone, all mahogany, made by Aaron Kleim of Beansprout ukuleles. The current owner also had a passive pickup installed. He's selling it because he really prefers soprano scale. Bonus to me is a handmade instrument at a good price, considerably less than I would have expected to pay for it new.

Right now it's tuned GCEA, which is the same tuning as my tenors. Baritones are normally tuned like a guitar as DGBE (or dGBE with a high-D, like my Pono is). I'll keep this in the C tuning for a while, at least until I find out if I like it. It's a sort of "super tenor" right now. I might even experiment with a high-G tuning (re-entrant tuning) like the standard uke.

More will be on my uke review site after I've had some time to play it. In the meantime, one of my tenor ukes is for sale at Blue Mountain Music to help fund this new purchase.

The better news is that I don't have to pay taxes on it, like I do when I get a ukulele from the USA. Have to give more serious thought to starting a ukulele class/club this fall.
