Old Tequila Olla Jug

    Here is one for the history books. I don't know if anyone has seen anything like this before. It is roughly 6 inches in diameter, and probably would hold about a pint of liquid. It has a small pottery shot glass, tied to it. There is some evidence that this jug was corked and sealed with a hard wax seal. The closest vessel that I have seen, is an antique olla canteen, which is a spherical corked pottery jug, in a cloth or net bag.

    I would guess that this is a vintage piece from roughly 1900, or before. It might be one of the first attempts to offer a tequila product, to a wider market, on a commercial basis. Perhaps offered from a private maker.

    Hand Painted Lettering it says in spanish Recuerdo de Oaiaca "Memories of Oaiaca" and on the bottom is Peihuya or something like that. Anyway, your input would be appreciated
