Humm, many of you get e-mails from Hi Time (as do I)... I was surprised to see this tequila for sale...

"Gran Centenario Leyenda
This tequila is distilled twice and is aged in Limosin oak barrels for an average of 4 years. Later it is married to older, hand picked tequlia reserves for richness and complexity. Every step in the process is supervised by the Maestro Tequilero aand thus only a limited number of bottles are produced each year.

[165710] $229.99"

The picture looks exactly like the "Reserva de Tequilero" that was previously only available in Mexico (I bought a bottle on the trip for $85)... is this just renaming and packaging for the US market? The same tequila, or just using the bottles and packaging to market a new ultra aged anejo (sounding very much like the "RDT")... ohh well I don't think I will shell out the $229 until I know more  Regards,
Tim

I had a sip of this last time I went to La Pinata in Fremont. It's basically the same as Reserva del Tequilero, except 80 proof instead of 76 proof. Good, but not $230 good by any measure. I consider it a close cousin of JCRF in flavor, though maybe a bit more mellow.
