So I happen to notice a liquor store in my neighborhood that I haven't visited. It's sort of stuck in a strip mall and an independant. I believe in always checking all sources and not judjing the old book by it's cover, so I give it a try.
As I enter I scan the ailes for the tequila section. Oh, I see it right away. I can't believe it. A bottle of the old Corralejo reposado. Yes, in the translucent container, not blue. Woo hoo! Not only is it NOS and with the price to go with what they where five years ago, but it's a full liter. I hate to mention prices, but it was $39.99.
This used to be my favorite reposado and it still is. Just as I remember it. So full of flavor and bouquet. It seems sweet if sipped, yet a dry taste with buchesitos (small mouth fulls).
To bad the family at Hacienda Corralejo decided to dumb down their product and make it a mixto for I trully miss the real thing.
There might be another bottle in an other store. He promised to fetch it for me.
I'm not a collector, I drink this stuff for that is what was meant to be done with it.
¡Saludos y'all!

I love it when that happens.
I do the same thing here in Mexico. Usually find nothng but, sometimes, Eureka! I found a couple of liters of Tapatio the other day.
I have been looking for Corralejo Anejo for some time. I contacted the distillery and they say it is basically only sold in the US. Is it mixto too??
I am driving from Mexico City back to Vallarta next Saturday and plan to try to stop, if they are open on weekends.

The "new" Corralejo añejo is a mixto also for it doesn't say 100%. One of my tequila drinking pals has a bottle each of the new and the old, both red. They also are not the same in taste. I was lucky to be in his company when he opened the 100% puro.
Also, I was having a discussion with someone about the blue Corralejo bottles and his point was that in Mexico they are 100% puro and that it says so on the bottle just not under the triangle like on the old bottles. Could you verify this for me? Thanks!
¡Salud!
