I have a Triumph pre-unit alloy TR5 engine with the ser.#
TR5 73192 stamped on it.I'm not sure of year model.I would
appreciate help.Is it a 1947 or 1956?If it is a 1947, can I use a 1956 crankshaft (with brg.inserts for rods instead of babbited)?

Your TR5 is a 1956 model, as no TR5s were built before 1949. Engine and frame numbers should match, and your bike should have a swing-arm frame (last year for rigid TR5 was 1954).
