Confession: Tequila Hiatus

It really is a spirit all to its own. It's uniqueness sets it apart from all other spirits. I know I have compared some other spirts mentioned above with certain flavors in tequila I have sampled, but I think that comparison grows more distant with everything I have sampled in the last 12 months. Tequila is great, there really isnt much more to say than that. It needs its own time and space and appreciation. No shooter, no mixto, take a few hours and enjoy a puro and let it impress you.
Tonights feast was my remaining bottle of Don Camilo anejo. None remains as I write my message here. It is a nice anejo, but I wouldnt buy it again. At this point my tasting notes and palate are shot! It is a nice anejo, just not in my top 20 and thus it will become just a memory to my bar to make room for other fine spirits...and so I say, so long Don Camilo anejo and welcome back my long lost tequilas, at least for now....
(mental note: maybe I shoudlnt post here after half a bottle gets emptied into my belly)

It seemed like a solid post to me.

I must say I find it to really really suck. Last beer I had was in March in Mexico (1) and it triggered something awful.
My wine cellar I so carefully aquired and nourished all these years goes almost untouched. I still have tequila left from last March although thius summer I had a few good months headache wise and I managed to drink almost 2 bottles of blanco (4 Copas).
So my hiatus is something you wouldn't wish on anyone (who enjoys booze).

Dude, that really sucks and I know who you feel. I found that if I drink (any amount) before getting on a plane, that during the decent I get the worst migraines feels. It is as if someone places my head in a vice-grip and keeps turnin' the crank. So needless to say, no booze for me before or during a flight. So Dawg, I hope you find a way to rid yourself of the migraines, because they are not fun and make life miserable.

Maybe because 4 Copas is kosher/organic it doesn't bother you. You better pick up another bottle and test the theory.

4 Copas being organic doesn't change anything. If I am in a period where I have not had one for awhile I can sometimes drink a bit. But many times it (drinking a bit) will be the event that pushes me back into an active headache cycle so I am very leary. Half an hour of pleasure vs 12-24 hours of hell is not much of a trade off.
For a booze lover like me it's one of life's little surprises. If it's the worst affiction that ever befalls me then I will consider myself lucky.

If you loose your sex drive you don't miss, really, because you no longer have the drive, natch. If all else fails, try a witch doctor. Last resource maybe after acupucture.

I tend to go on tequila hiatus every year for a few months. Depends when it starts to get cold, really, but a chill in the air draws me more towards cognac and scotch. Big on scotch this year. Currently pondering the mysteries of the universe with a beeeyootiful Lagavulin 16 year. Like sippin' on a campfire. Rustic, yet very elegant. Keeps getting better with each sip.
The blancos and reps are mostly packed away right now, but sometimes anejos work for me in the winter... they sit nicely next to a mug of hot cocoa. DJ1942 is my standby when I'm in that mood.

Had a snifter of Herradura blanco last night--
