I am trying to put together a local club for ukulele players. I may the only ukulele fanatic up here, but the folks at Blue Mountain Music tell me they sell a lot of inexpensive ukes, so someone else must be interested. Maybe just kids, but I hope other musically-inclined adults will come forward. Who knows? Maybe there will be dozens, hundreds, a whole community of secret ukulele players...
I have been given permission to use the space above Blue Mountain Music. I have some posters to put up, and hope to hold the first meeting in November to see what sort of interest there is. I realize a lot of the ukes sold are for kids, but we can accommodate them, too.
Here's the poster I plan to put up in a few places to see if anyone's interested. Right now I'm just asking people to contact me to let me know their interest, so I can see what sort of space I need. BMM has graciously offered to let me use their upstairs (teaching room) on Saturdays. This will probably suffice, but I'm hoping we'll soon need to expand!

Story in the Collingwood Connection:
Quote
The Collingwood Public Library is now loaning ukuleles in an effort to promote musical literacy.
The library has three of the Hawaiian instruments available for loan. The ukuleles will be available for three weeks - the same as DVD's and videos - and will include a songbook and an instructional booklet.
Counc. Ian Chadwick, who sits on the library board, has been playing the ukulele for about a year. He said he played guitar for 40 years and then took up the ukulele.
